1.  CW TELEVISION NETWORK CONTINUES TO PUSH ENVELOPE

Some companies are choosing to act responsibly in the face of the CW’s sex-filled, teen-challenged programming. TJX Companies Inc., owners of the discount clothing chains T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, have ended their sponsorship of CW’s Melrose Place.

In spite of losing sponsorships on Melrose Place, the similarly themed CW series Gossip Girl widely advertised an episode containing a sexual threesome.   [As television and movies grow worse there is ClearPlay where you can view DVDs that have been cleaned up but does not alter the DVDs. Alternately, you can simply do what many are doing… quit watching and have more time to get quality things accomplished!]

2.  CHRISTIAN CROSSES AND MUSLIM HIJABS?

WorldNetDaily.com reports on January 20, 2010 regarding a case launched in the Court of Appeal for Great Britain over a rule imposed by British Airways (BA) on employees allowing Muslims to wear a hijab, Jews to wear skullcaps, Sikhs to wear religious bracelets but banning a Christian woman from wearing a tiny silver cross necklace.

Nadia Eweida is attempting to overturn an employment tribunal’s decision that the airline’s actions were not religious discrimination.

The case began in 2006 when Eweida was sent home from work after refusing to remove the cross because BA officials claimed it violated their dress code.

Eweida, a Heathrow check-in worker who is a Coptic Christian, was returned to her position when the airline loosened its regulations. An appeal followed when the Reading Employment Tribunal concluded the airline was allowed to ban a cross pendant that is visible.

The Tribunal’s decision:  “…symbols such as turbans and bangles cannot be concealed and so are allowed.”

3.  JUDICIAL WATCH ANNOUNCES LIST OF WASHINGTON’S MOST CORRUPT POLITICIANS for 2007, 2008, 2009

We have listed some of the people on the 2008-2009 lists. We would have listed more but for lack of space. Some are on the list for more than one year.

Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) There is a long history of corrupt behavior in Chinagate, Filegate, pardons for terrorists, pardons for cash (for her brothers), White House fundraising coffees, Whitewater, Travelgate lies, doing business with the state of Arkansas while her husband was governor, Web Hubbell, smear campaigns, false financial disclosure forms, John Huang, Chinese generals, the Lippo Group, cattle futures fraud.  In 2008 Hillary also received an illegal foreign campaign contribution in the form of a fundraising concert by Elton John.

Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) Question: Which member of the U.S. Senate took the most campaign money from corrupt institutions Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? Answer: Chris Dodd, Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee.  Given this, there is little reason to wonder why Senator Dodd blocked reform proposals for Fannie and Freddie. Dodd also accepted preferential treatment and loan terms from countrywide Financial. He was instrumental in placing an earmark so these people could receive federal bonuses from the stimulus.

Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) Speaker of the House, Pelosi made the “most

corrupt” list for sneaking a $25 million earmark for her husband into a $15 billion Water Resources Development Act passed by Congress. In 2008, Pelosi participated in an illegal advertising campaign funded by Al Gore’s non-profit Alliance for Climate Protection. The ad featuring Pelosi ran at least 300 times nationally, even in the House speaker’s district during campaign season. Pelosi promised a new era of ethics in the 2006 campaign and she has failed to deliver.

Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) Rep Rangel, Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, took the unusual step of filing an ethics complaint against himself in 2008 related to scandals involving unpaid taxes and rent-controlled apartments. Rangel failed to pay taxes on $75,000 in rental income he earned from his off-shore rental property; his efforts to use his influence to keep hold of highly coveted rent-controlled apart-ments in Harlem; and misusing his congressional office to fundraise for his private Rangel center. Congress is also looking into whether he preserved a tax loophole for an oil drilling company in exchange for funding for the Rangel Center.

Rep Rick Renzi (R-AZ) Renzi was indicted by a federal grand jury in 2008 for conspiracy, extortion, money laundering and wire fraud. He used his influence on a House Natural Resources Committee to orchestrate a land swap with the federal government that financially benefited himself and his associates. He is also charged with embezzling more than $400,000 from insurance clients to fund his congressional campaign. The congressman con-cealed nearly $1 million that he made for his influence in securing underground copper deposits on public land in the land swap. He retired in 2008.
There are too many to list such as former Senator William Jefferson (D) of Louisiana nabbed by FBI accepting a $100,000 bribe and investigators found another $90,000 cash in his freezer.
